“I learned or relearned a valuable lesson today. I was looking up a death notice ( a common ritual of florists) and was shocked to see a customer I had just helped a few days ago.
The shock and sadness I felt really shook me. I thought back on the conversation I had shared with him just days earlier. He spoke of his options of life and how he was just now beginning to realize what was important and what he should really be obsessing about.
I went through the regular routine of putting his order together. As he left I told him I would take good care of his order. The customer called me a few more times over the course of a few days to check on the arrangements he had made. The last call he made to me I was quite busy and was very brief in my conversation with him.
We don't always know when people are in need, and this experience has reminded me to genuinely serve each customer that walks through the door. “

True Love

While delivering funeral flowers to a mortuary, Holly, one of our owners had a tender experience. The room where the deceased woman lay was empty, and Holly placed the spray of flowers on the casket. She left to get more flowers from the van, and when she re-entered, she felt a completely different feeling in the room- a feeling of love and tenderness.
She watched as an older man gently put glasses on the face of his wife’s body, and then slide her wedding ring onto her finger.
“It was the picture of real love” Said Holly. “It wasn’t like the movies where a beautiful woman is being kissed by a gorgeous man. It was just sweet and tender. It was pure love.”
The man wasn’t sobbing- just lovingly caring for the woman he no doubt had cherished when she had been alive. What a reminder to those of us still living to treat our loved ones with true and gentle kindness.

The Big Aloha

Recently, A beautiful Hawaiian woman- soon to be grandma -came into Flowers On Main, and ordered a big arrangement for her first new grandchild that was to be born at any minute. She wanted the arrangement to be big and colorful, and asked that more flowers be added to the design. She ended up spending over 100 dollars, and was thrilled with her big beautiful “Aloha " welcome for her new grandchild! Lucky new baby to have that grandmother’s welcome. Flower Thought of the Day

As customers enter our flower shop, they bring with them their stories of happiness, excitement, and celebration as well as sorrow and disappointment. As a staff, we have shared both laughter and tears with our great customers who come looking for just the right arrangement to express their feelings. When they leave, they leave just a bit of their lives behind.

Celebrate January with Carnations

It’s January, and we here at Flowers On Main are celebrating with carnations! This sweet smelling, long lasting flower is known as the January birthday flower, and is our Flower of the Month. This means an extra savings for our customers!
Carnations are grown in a variety of colors, and can be dyed or sprayed to meet the needs of any occasion. Typically, red carnations signify love, white designate purity or innocence, and pink express gratitude. A solid color says, “Yes”, and a striped carnation says, “No”, or denotes refusal. But, really, no matter the color or design of the carnation, we can arrange them to say just what’s on your mind or in your heart.
Why not spoil yourself or a friend with these multi-peddled blooms? You can buy them by the stem, have them wrapped, or arranged in a vase. There isn’t much time before January is over, and the $25 carnation arrangements are gone. So, order your carnations today.
